Chefnorway.com is my blog on Norwegian cuisine. But I also add my own recipes on different well known meals. I update weekly with a video and a full recipe.
Apple Cake with Blackberries
Nothing is better than a delicious fresh apple cake-. This recipe brings out that extra special out of a good apple pie with the addition of homemade blackberry jam. Served simple bathing in a blackberry coulis topped with leftover berries and sprinkled powdered sugar. If it still has a little heat to it, it just slides down like the best bakes you’ve ever tasted. The cake is very simple to make, but my method of doing the batter might be a little messy. Nevertheless this is the way to get the best result. You’ve got 50 minutes to clean the kitchen when the cake is baking to perfection. In the picture I have used the leftover berries that I didn’t use inside the cake. It won’t be enough for all 20 pieces of cake you get. Then you need to make more blackberry jam.

Sandefjord Smør (updated)
Переглядів 3,8 тис.7 років тому
A simple butter sauce that is used with different fish recipes in Norway. Sandefjord is a coastal city 2 hours from our capital Oslo and "smør" is translated to butter in English. You can use this sauce with salmon, cod and most known Scandinavian fish meals. It's similar to béarnaise or hollandaise sauce, but not as strong in spices. Just a simple mix of heavy cream and butter, with a touch of...
(Brown) Meatball Sauce
Переглядів 4027 років тому
Traditional sauce that goes with the meatballs. My version is a little spicier than a traditional one. I find it perfect with my recipe and the dark spicy sauce is well balanced. If you want extra flavor I could suggest using some bouillon cubes. Visit my website for more information. Norwegian Meatballs with sauce (Kjøttkaker)
Переглядів 14 тис.7 років тому
There are many recipes that Norwegians consider as a national dish. This might be the one many of the elderly would say was their favorite. We say you have to go home to mom's meatballs to feel at home in Norway. Every recipe is a little different, but consist of mostly the same ingredients. It's important for a Norwegian household to have their own special recipe. I've looked through my family...
Amazing Nachos by chefnorway
Переглядів 1007 років тому
I love nachos, and usually I go for nachos when I eat at a Mexican restaurant. I've worked out a special spice-mix, fried tortilla chips and a delicious look you won't find in many Mexican restaurants. I believe it’s a favorite among most, so trying this will bring some smiles from nacho lovers. This one has the crisp, the spice, the cheese and the colors to blow anyone’s mind.
Guacamole

Guacamole is very important to nachos. It doesn't have to be a boring dish, with just minced meat and cheese. The guacamole gives a spicy, cold dip that is necessary with nachos. Also very good with other chips and vegetables.
Pepper Sauce
Переглядів 1627 років тому
There’s no steak dinner without a strong pepper sauce. Actually you need meat to make a good pepper sauce. The tastes you get from the fried meat in the pan will bring an extra flavor to top this recipe. This sauce goes perfectly along with steak or any dark meat. Visit chefnorway.com/pepper-sauce/ for more information.
Raspberry Onions
Переглядів 1127 років тому
Raspberry Onions is a must have when I serve the love of my life. They are sweet and give the steak extra color and taste that blends perfectly with the peppery taste from the sauce. It’s very simple and you can freeze whatever you have left, and just heat up next time you make this meal. Visit chefnorway.com/?p=2919&preview=true for more info.

This recipe will show the most basic and popular one. Thick lefse wi...
Carrot Cake
Переглядів 2978 років тому
In baking, carrot is one of the best natural ingredients to make your bakes super moist and delicious. Carrot cake is no different, and I’m going to show you how to make one of the best carrot cakes you have ever tried. I’ve served this to many friends and colleagues the last weeks and they all make sure to get every last bit off their plate. Guarding it as it was their “precious”! I’ve yet to ...
Pacifical Dream

Pacifical Dream is a great dessert with natural flavors. Sweet, sour and bitter combined perfectly with a great quality vanilla ice cream. Lots of vitamin C and great to eat when you’re having a cold, or just want it! Accommodate a delicious fruit dessert like this with my beef stew and I believe you have made the daily suggested requirements of fruits and vegetables. www.chefnorway.com/pacific...
ChefNorway's Italian Pizza Roll
Переглядів 5008 років тому
It’s 2016 and I’ve had to come up with something new and creative. I wanted to make the very best pizza roll. Not the small boring ones, but a giant, filled with cheese top to bottom. Aged prosciutto ham, fresh herbs, tomatoes, mozzarella and a pizza dough made with nothing less than Italy’s own special pizza flour “tipo 0”. I’m not sure if you can handle this much cheese and goodness, but I’ll...
Raspberry lemon mousse

Raspberry Lemon Mousse is my special occasion dessert. It’s very tasty, quick to make, and looks amazing. It has that fireworks effect with sparkling colors when first looking at it, and when digging into it as well. Raspberry and lemon goes well together and finishes a delicious steak dinner like no other dessert. As with most of my recipes I don’t count calories when making delicious food, an...

Mozzarella, basil and tenderloin steak is on my favorite ingredients list. I’ve combined them all into a delicious extra special recipe for someone you would show some extra appreciation. It will take you close to 45 minutes to make and about 3 minutes to eat up! I’ve added my special steak sauce with brandy and fresh cut basil. Creamed and peppered to combine with the steak, cheese and of cour...
Oregano Cheese Sandwich
Переглядів 1,3 тис.8 років тому
I make this recipe weekly. In Norway we usually have a late evening meal and it’s perfect for that. Of course if you want a delicious lunch go ahead as I believe it’s a delicious light meal. I recommend to try to bake my Norwegian loaf and use that with this recipe. If you don’t want to bake, you could use any kind of thick sliced white bread. Pay attention to cooking settings, and time. It’s a...

Chefnorway's Sørlandskompe - South Norwegian Potatoball
min favoritt mat fra Sørlandet. min mor laget veldig gode komper.
You are making me hungry for your potato balls (klube). They look like the one's my family's makes. One of my favorite dishes.
Does this recipe make 9 or 12 rolls? On the website it states 12 on top but later in the description it says to cut into 9 rolls. Thank you! We had a blast in Tromsö last year trying out as many different cinnamon rolls for breakfast as we could find. Hope these come anywhere close to it 🙂
Thank you for the video. I plan on making this very soon and have never had it before, it looks delicious:) 🧈🍋
We call it kompe. After you boil it in the salty ham water, we let it dry. Then we slice and fry up. Soooooo good! Thank you!

No barlyflauer?
After seeing this video I think that I can manage this recipe. My Norwegian Gran did very little ethnic cookery, so I haven't had this. It's looks very appealing.
What is the meat in the middle ground salt pork?
Mange tak for din opskrift, den smager meget lækker😊
Det smaker sikkert veldig velsmakende
how many people is it for? ^^
you've just invented the pizza... them Italians gonna be pissed
I’m learning Norwegian
Takk for oppskriften. Etter nesten to år uten å ha vært hjemme i Norge var det fint å følge oppskriften å endelig spise tjukklefse igjen. God bless your many children som mine venner fra india ville sagt.
How much milk did you use?
A wonderful video & thank you for sharing! I am so disappointed that you haven't "yet" been found by many out there. Perhaps you could try your marketing in a different way. Something to think about. I do wish you well. Cheers. :-)
I came here just to see what Haaland eats
I see you don't know how to braid.
Wow i love it😘👍Lets exchange ua-cam.com/video/i_2doNPZA20/v-deo.html
Yes just like when I was a little girl, we just didn't use oatmeal and didn't squeeze out excess liquid, we just kept adding flour until we could shape into oblong balls. Added a pinch of allspice when mixing and added chopped up fresh pork in the centre. Very tasty. We called it Krub.
I will make this for Christmas dinner! Thank you.
Hi chef, how much do I need to put if I use dry yeast?
Could you please explain the conversion between cake yeast and active yeast in packages in US?
E
Great It will be this year's Christmas treat!
Is 100 gms yeast as is described in the recipe excessive? Maybe a typo? I just used 2 packets active dry yeast or 14 gms
I think 100 grms of fresh yeast.
The “potato flour” you reserved in the bowl after squeezing the ground potatoes is high in pectin. Potato pectin is a better emulsifier than ones used commercially. It is also useful when making homemade jam or jelly.
Are there versions of fårikål that has more broth or is this pretty much how the dish looks everywhere?
The ones I have seen usually have more broth, so theres definetly different types!
I tasted cinnamon rolls in Norway and I wanted to eat them again, so I've just followed this recipe and I can say they're as delicious and smooth as the ones I tasted in Norway ! The only "weird" thing that happened to me, not a big deal though, was that some of the sugar of the filling seems to have got separated from it and flown down, because a caramelized layer was formed on the bottom of some rolls. I didn't use a mixer for the filling, but only a fork and my hands. Did maybe not all the sugar get well mixed? My family loved that added texture on the bottom anyway. Thanks a lot!
Norwegian here! Thats how its supposed to be! Adds to the flavour of it :D
Nice content... thank you it really helps a lot
What kind of baking powder do you use? When I lived in Stavanger, I used to eat these with sour cream and strawberry jam
They look so good! 😊🤗 im trying this out. My husband’s favorite 👅😛😋
Omg 😱 I did this today at work. Verdens beste kake 🍥🍰 I’m subscribing to your channel ❤️
But what if you don’t have a meat grinder?
Usually you use a chees grater on the potatoes on the smallest side and then you continue as she does.
@@RemoteAntidote thank you 😊
Food processor works too.
nice..need your support for my channel, thanks
You were supposed to make a pattern on top, and I have no idea what that orange stuff is
The orange stuff is mostly used with lamb ribs, but can also be used with "rib" Lamb rib is 50/50 in norway
Må jo kokes i kraft!
Could you please precise if 200g sugar and butter is for dought or mixture. Thanks à lot
Whats marked red is for the mixture. Marked white is for the dough. Follow link to the website and you could download a sheet with the recipe on 😉

Looks delicious
Looks delicious but I'd swap out those boring traditional potato boats with some mashed potatoes. It may look "Swedish" to foreigners but Norwegian meatballs and the variations of sauces we uses is very different, both tastes great but they're very distinctive in taste.
I like to boil them in a tasty stock.
Arnstein Bjone yes in ham broth
Not sure if they use cardemome in the States either? Could be wrong, though.
Im sure there are amny recipes. In Norway homebaked rolls like this usually has cardamom in it 😉👍
What effect does steam baking do to the rolls? Do they become more moist in texture?
is there a way for this recipe to be traslated into u.s system
Idk what recipe you have but that ain't right ! I make Nordlandslefse (mørlefse) for sale and that aint it.... my recipe is a family recipe and all know you dont give away that ..... so maby this is just that a almoust recipe for the rest to use...
This is a really good svele recipe, it was delicious! Can you please tell me the name of this song? Its so soothing~
